What’s That Creepy Logo On My TV?!

Posted by Albert Kim | October 15, 2012

Do you watch television like it’s a part-time job?  Then, like me, your DVR is probably chock-full of shows like Parks & Recreation, Modern Family, New Girl, The League, Covert Affairs, No Reservations, and RHO__ Reunions (don’t judge).  However, unlike me, you probably don’t make active TV watching a perfectionist endeavor. “What does this mean, Albert?”  Glad you asked.

This means watching every show with an undivided attention, rewinding segments several times with Closed Captioning on to catch every under-the-breath quip.  Yes, watching TV with me is exhausting, and in the world of cord-cutters and Roku boxes, I’m reading dialogue on my HDTV like the grandpa from Up.

And I am just as hard of hearing.

So it was a bit of a surprise this summer to see a mysterious logo appear at the beginning of many of my favorite primetime shows:

Wish I Had Thought Of That: Wallaby Card

Posted by Albert Kim | July 20, 2012

Yesterday, a friend forwarded me a Google Offer for roundtrip tickets.  Within minutes, I had bought the offer and purchased my roundtrip ticket.  Victory! I saved $55 and earned a standard 2% cashback with my Fidelity AMEX.

Soon after, as a proud cashback nazi, I realized the rookie mistakes I had just made:

  • Forgot about 7.5% cashback on my Google Offers purchase by going through a referral link on Ebates.com
  • Lost another 3% cashback on my airline ticket purchase, because Citi Dividend has a promotional 5% back on Airlines & Car Rentals.

ISIS Mobile Wallet Demoed @ SXSW

Posted by Albert Kim | March 28, 2012

As with any convention, there were a lot of “meh” products and sponsored “experiences” at SXSW 2012.  However, Reed and I stopped by the ISIS demo booth and were pleasantly surprised by their offering: a mobile wallet solution that elegantly incorporates payment, offers, and loyalty.

Parks & Denuo-creation?

Posted by Albert Kim | June 22, 2011

Two amazing things happened recently:

  • Friend and former Starcom Chicago office neighbor Graham created an awesome new meme: the Golden Girls Sitcom Archetype.  It postulates that every sitcom has 4 cast members that can be tied back to the 4 Golden Girls:
  • Newest addition to Denuo, designer Reed, posted on Facebook that he looks like Andy Dwyer from the NBC comedy hit, Parks & Recreation.

Using Graham’s template, you can judge for yourself:

Andy Reed

#TRUTH

Which got me and fellow Denuologist Chris Blumberg thinking:

Does the cast of Parks and Recreation match up against the crew of Denuo?

Surprisingly, yes – let’s explore!

Dirty Hipsters’ Dirty Lives on HipsterCatalogLiving.Tumblr.com

Dirty Hipster (Urban Outfitters image)
After watching An Inconvenient Truth,
Kennedy helped her cardio striptease workout studio become LEED-certified.

I want a book deal.  And not the kind where I have to sit down and write a fricken novel.  I want the kind where someone essentially copies and pastes posts from a blog I make, I write a small dedication to friends and family, and I distribute throughout kitschy stores in malls for people with money to burn.
