A Digital Family Adventure

I recently traded my city condo, yellow cabs and laptop for a three story house, a Suburban with two car seats and limited to no cell phone reception in a smallish town in KS that is home to my sister, brother-in-law and nephews. My summer “vacation” was spent trying to keep up with (and frankly alive) two boys under the age of 4. Thankfully their parents didn’t totally disappear but I was basically on my own from breakfast through to bath and bedtime.

I’m fascinated with people watching and this past week, all that energy was put towards watching them and the events/people that surround them. I often pay particular attention to how they interact with tools and technologies that weren’t even a pipe dream when I was their age. Lucky for you, I’m going to share a few of my observations…

Reflecteur – Issue 61

Posted by Katie Cook | June 24, 2010

Reflecteur61_Header

Check out Reflecteur issue #61, where you’ll find the latest in our favorite photo blogs, like the one featuring a picture of the alarm clock your kids watered because “it looked like it needed it,” and other horrors of kids ruining things you own. Also, find out how easily it is for things to get lost in translation… when you translate it up to 56 times, see how “You and me put on a bad romance” becomes “I love you,” and, finally, robots. ‘Nuff said.

Being Human: Community Management Demystified

Posted by Tim Harris | June 22, 2010

I-miss-that-community

So BRAND walks into a bar… (no, this is not a joke).  What happens when “bar” equals “community hub?”

I’ve found the reactions of marketers to the need for serious thought and planning around community-management to be both surprising and fascinating.  After all, community management– like so many of the concepts that come onto our professional radar in a rush of “why haven’t you considered this before”– isn’t a new concept.  We could go all the way back to early human communities and examine counselors, religious figures and even the town drunk for clues about how to keep people happy, engaged and contributing to a greater good (or evil).

Posted by Eric Bee | June 7, 2010

With the “most important event in gaming history” unfolding in a little over a week, the gaming nerd contingent at Denuo is a bit excited. We’ll be heading out to the Electronic Entertainment Expo on June 14th to take in all the latest fun from the world of gaming and, of course, bringing back our take on the big reveals and trends spinning out from the showfloor.

Before we pack our bags (ed. note: who are you kidding, they’ve been packed for a month now), this year’s show promises to hold some surprises for the gaming faithful and, with that, bring all sorts of new opportunities for those involved in the gaming space. For those of you following along from your laptop and RSS feeds, here’s what to look for when the expo opens its doors.

Readers!  In this issue of Reflecteur we take a look how one creative person took to Google ads to find himself a job (and it worked), more optical illusions & how it can transcend language barriers, and pretend conversations between Steve Jobs & Bill Gates.  In addition, we proudly present the launch of the Tablespoon’s Foodfile application.
